Privacy Policy

Digital Disciple (“we”, “us”) equips followers of Jesus to share the Good News in the digital world. Many of the people we serve share their faith in sensitive settings, so we take the privacy and safety of your information very seriously. This policy explains what we collect, why, how we protect it, and the choices and rights you have.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

We only collect what you choose to give us through our forms and your account:

  • Get Trained registration: name, gender, phone, email, username and password, how you heard about us, and a short description of your relationship with Jesus.
  • Volunteer sign-up: name, church affiliation, age, town or city, education, email, phone, a short account of your faith, social media profile links, a photograph, skills, languages, employment status and available hours.
  • Hack event registration: name, gender, phone, email, whether you are a student, professional or pastor/missionary, where you study or work, your church or fellowship, who referred you, your skills and interests, and any comments.
  • Contact form: name, phone, email, where you are from, and your message.
  • Feedback forms: your answers about our training.

Information created when you take a course

If you have an account, our learning system records your name, username, email, course enrolments, lesson progress, quiz answers and results, assignments you submit, certificates earned and any groups you belong to. Your password is stored in encrypted (hashed) form, and we cannot see it.

Information collected automatically

  • Server logs: like all websites, our hosting provider records technical information such as IP address, browser type, pages requested and time of visit, for security and to keep the site running.
  • Security logs: to protect accounts, we record the IP address of repeated failed login attempts.
  • Cookies: see section 6.

We do not use advertising trackers, social media pixels or visitor analytics tools, and our fonts are hosted on our own server, so your visit is not shared with font providers.

2. Sensitive information

Some of our forms ask about your faith, your church or fellowship, and (for volunteers) your photograph. We treat this as sensitive personal information:

  • We ask for it only where it helps us serve you (for example, to understand your background before training, or to match volunteers to suitable projects).
  • It is visible only to the small number of Digital Disciple team members who need it.
  • We never publish the names, photographs, churches or personal stories of participants, volunteers or partners without their explicit written consent. Any testimonial we publish uses initials only.

3. How we use your information

  • To register you for training, give you access to courses and track your progress
  • To contact you about the training, events or volunteer opportunities you signed up for
  • To match volunteers with suitable projects
  • To answer your questions and messages
  • To improve our training using feedback
  • To keep the website and your account secure
  • To comply with the law

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

4. Consent

Each of our forms asks you to tick a box agreeing to this policy before you submit it. By ticking it, you consent to us using your information as described here. You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing us. If you do, we will stop using your information and delete it, unless the law requires us to keep it. Withdrawing consent may mean we can no longer provide some services to you (such as course access).

5. Who we share information with

We share information only with trusted service providers who help us run Digital Disciple, and only as much as they need:

  • Website hosting: our hosting provider stores the website and its data. 
  • Email delivery: an email service sends confirmation and notification emails on our behalf. 
  • Video: the video on our home page is hosted by Vimeo. When you play it, Vimeo may collect information under its own privacy policy.

We may disclose information if we are legally required to do so. Where the law allows, we will tell you first.

6. Cookies

We use only the cookies needed for the website to work:

  • Login cookies (set by WordPress when you log in): keep you signed in and protect your account.
  • Preference cookies (set by WordPress for logged-in users): remember simple display settings.
  • Cache cookie (set by our caching system for logged-in users): makes sure you see your personalised pages rather than a public copy.
  • Vimeo cookies: only if you play the embedded video.

We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but you will then not be able to log in.

7. Links to other websites and apps

We recommend third-party tools such as GodTools, the Jesus Film App, Soularium, Perspective Cards and NextStep.is. When you visit or install them, their own privacy policies apply. We are not responsible for how they handle your information.

8. How long we keep your information

  • Form submissions: Up to 1 year from form submission
  • Accounts and course records: for as long as your account is active. You can ask us to delete it at any time.
  • Email delivery logs: Up to 1 month
  • Server and security logs: kept for a short period by our hosting and security systems, then deleted automatically.

9. How we protect your information

  • The whole website uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection.
  • Access to personal information is limited to team members who need it, using individual accounts.
  • We protect logins against repeated guessing and keep our software up to date.
  • We do not publish the identities of our team, volunteers or participants.

No system is completely secure. If we become aware of a data breach that affects you, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.

10. Your rights

Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and similar laws, you have the right to:

  • Access: ask what personal information we hold about you and how we use it
  • Correction: ask us to correct or complete inaccurate information
  • Erasure: ask us to delete your information
  • Withdraw consent at any time
  • Nominate someone to exercise these rights on your behalf in case of death or incapacity
  • Grievance redressal: raise a complaint with us, and, if you are not satisfied, with the Data Protection Board of India

To use any of these rights, email mail ‘at’ digitaldisciple.net with the subject “Privacy request”. We will respond within 30 days We may ask you to confirm your identity first.

11. Children

Our training is intended for adults and young people above 18 years. If you are under 18 and do not have your parent’s consent, do not sign up.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when it last changed. If we make significant changes, we will let registered users know by email.
